The Canadian Football Hall of Fame announcement Tuesday hopefully was a great reminder to those who are so quick to be excited about a relationship with the XFL.
The Hall of Famers included greats like Nik Lewis and Orlondo Steinauer. Marv Levy made history by becoming just the third person to be inducted in both the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
As I looked at the names and read their bios and thought about Nik Lewis being No. 1 all-time in receptions in league history over Ray Elgaard, Milt Stegall, Allan Pitts and Hugh Campbell, I sit here and think about how much credibility this league has.
And why some are so quick to believe it’s time just to throw that away to get in a relationship with a league with such legends as He Hate Me or ….. um …. Tommy Maddux?
The three-down game has a history that deserves protecting and I really hope those who have taken on the leadership of the league have more respect for that history than what has been speculated over the last month.
