Saskatchewan has reported its highest daily total of recoveries from COVID-19 in nearly three months.
In its daily update Monday, the Ministry of Health said there were 357 recoveries — the largest-such figure since Jan. 26, when 839 recoveries were reported.
The government also reported Monday 243 new cases and 169 new cases of variants of concern. There weren’t any deaths reported.
The province also reported the Milden Hotel and Bar had been closed by public health inspectors for failing to comply with COVID guidelines under The Public Health Act. On April 5, the establishment was fined $14,000 for a similar violation.
“The business must remain closed until it has been determined it is in compliance with COVID-19 measures,” the ministry said in its media release.
A look at the numbers
The latest recoveries increased that total in the province to date to 35,310 and lowered the active caseload to 2,626.
The latest new cases were reported in the Regina (82), Saskatoon (47), northwest (27), southeast (22), south-central (17), central-west (12), central-east (10), southwest (nine), far northwest (four) and north-central (three) zones.
Residence information for 10 cases is still being determined.
The seven-day average of new cases is 253, or 20.6 per 100,000 population.
The new cases of variants increased the total to date identified by screening in Saskatchewan to 4,833. The Regina region (2,919) continues to report the highest total.
That zone also is reporting 105 of the 200 hospitalizations in the province, with 74 people receiving inpatient care and 31 in intensive care. The other ICU cases are in the Saskatoon (nine), north-central (one), central-east (one) and south-central (one) zones.
There were 3,098 COVID-19 tests processed in the province on Sunday, increasing the total so far to 731,589.
Vaccination update
There were 7,043 shots given in the latest reporting period, hiking the total in the province so far to 352,169.
The latest immunizations were done in the Saskatoon (2,670), central-east (858), Regina (701), north-central (679), northwest (521), central-west (486), southeast (470), south-central (306), southwest (77), northeast (56), far northwest (15), far northeast (four) and far north-central (two) zones.
The hometowns of 198 people who received a shot is still being determined.
