When will sports fans hit a breaking point, if it isn’t happening already?
Greed has taken over.
Look at the latest news out of Europe with the fans outraged at a super league where the 12 richest franchises want to go it alone on a super league and too bad for everyone else who benefits from the money being shared from them.
And I’m not saying making money is a bad thing.
But from this super league to UEFA to FIFA to NCAA to the Olympics etc., etc., etc., money is being made and corruption takes over.
The NFL doesn’t even need fans in the stands anymore and even our little ol’ CFL is in an existential crisis where some owners see dollar signs with the XFL and to heck with hundreds of years of tradition.
Fans in Europe are absolutely beside themselves over the super league. Diehard CFL fans are pondering boycotts.
And I’m serious when I ponder whether greed at the top is getting to the point where they’re losing touch with the biggest reason they’ve been able to make all this money … you, the consumer, the fans.
