The Prairie Valley School Division will have its students return to the classroom on Monday.
“The health and safety of our students and staff will always be a primary concern. However, this must be balanced against the need to provide our students with the best possible learning opportunities. We have no doubt these opportunities are found in the classroom,” states a news release from the division.
The school division says the Saskatchewan Health Authority has endorsed the decision.
Given its large geography, the division feels it is “appropriate” to consider infection rates on a case-by-case basis.
“We believe this can be done safely and is the appropriate course of action at this time,” the division says.
The Prairie Valley School Division is comprised of 38 schools in 30 different Saskatchewan communities.
On Tuesday, the two largest school divisions in Regina extended the period of remote learning until May 3.
