Residents of some long-term care homes in the Regina area can have outdoor visits with family members effective immediately.
In a media release Wednesday, the Saskatchewan Health Authority said “limited outdoor visitation” can happen at homes that aren’t the scene of a COVID-19 outbreak.
According to the SHA, outdoor visits at care homes in Regina, Emerald Park, Lumsden and Cupar can occur with up to two family members or support people from the same household at one time.
Those who visit residents of the homes outdoors have to maintain two metres of physical distance at all times, wear a mask and follow hand-washing and sanitizing requirements.
On April 22, the Saskatchewan government said it would be easing visitation restrictions April 29 at long-term and personal care homes around the province providing conditions were met. However, homes in the Regina region had to follow the previous restrictions because of the continued transmission of COVID in the area.
Indoor visits remain limited to Level 3 in Regina, Emerald Park, Lumsden and Cupar. That means two family members or support people can be present at the same time for end-of-life care only. One family member or support person can be designated to assist with care if required.
