OK, seriously: Are you a hockey fan or an NHL fan?
Because if you’re a hockey fan around Saskatchewan, there had better be some impressive attendance numbers for the Pats in Regina and whenever the Pats come to town in the next two years.
Connor Bedard is heading home with a gold medal from the world under-18 tournament after a 14-point tournament. The last time Canada won gold at this tournament, another 15-year old kid named Connor had 14 points. Yes, Connor McDavid.
While it’s up to the provincial health authority if we’re allowed to watch games in person come the fall, if we are, every seat allowed to be filled at the Brandt Centre should be.
Bedard is showing how rare a talent he is. He was dominant in the WHL hub and he was equally impressive in a tournament of his peers, including a big tying goal in the gold-medal game.
The Pats wish it was that easy to sell tickets by just having a talent like this in their midst. But it should be, especially with junior hockey teams and leagues needing our support more than ever when the doors open to the public.
