An incident at a business on the 2200 block of Broad Street resulted in charges for a 48-year-old man.
Staff noticed a man hide something in his jacket around 10 a.m. Sunday, police said in a media release.
As the man left, staff told police they witnessed him put a second item in his jacket.
When an employee confronted the man, he took out a knife and held it up to the staff member before leaving, according to police.
Officers tracked the suspect down nearby.
Cory Wayne Thompson is charged with theft under $5,000 and assault with a weapon in connection.
He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Sept. 29.
