Drivers who take Albert Street in downtown Regina will find traffic reduced to a single lane in both directions from Victoria Avenue to Saskatchewan Drive until early August.
The city started a renewal project on Thursday that it says will lead to better drainage and a smoother drive while extending the lifespan of the infrastructure.
In a news release, the city says the work will include new sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, curbs and gutters and new pavement.
As well, a new centre median will be built between 11th Avenue and 12th Avenue to improve safety.
“These improvements in Downtown are in preparation for upcoming events that will welcome people back to our hotels, restaurants, and shops in 2022 — such as the Saskatchewan Winter Games and Grey Cup,” Mayor Sandra Masters said in a statement.
