980 CJME and 650 CKOM are being recognized by our colleagues, with two Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) Prairie Region awards.
980 CJME won for Best Radio Newscast for coverage the morning after the Saskatchewan election last fall. Kevin Martel anchored comprehensive team coverage which included reporters across the province on the scene at political headquarters in Regina and Saskatoon.
650 CKOM won for Breaking News Coverage of a second train derailment east of Saskatoon last year, a few months after a train derailed in the same area.
RTDNA Canada is the voice of electronic and digital journalists and news managers in Canada. The members of RTDNA Canada recognize the responsibility of broadcast journalists to promote and to protect the freedom to report independently about matters of public interest and to present a wide range of expressions, opinions and ideas.
