A woman is in custody following a dangerous situation late Saturday afternoon.
In a news release Sunday, police said they were called to the alley behind Saskatchewan Drive on McIntyre Street, just by the Empire Hotel, at about 4 p.m.
There were reports of three people drinking in the alley. Police alleged that when officers showed up to investigate, a woman started walking towards them while holding a needle.
The officers told her to put it down multiple times, but she refused.
“The police perceived the immediate need to control the female, due to a high risk of death or serious bodily harm,” the release read.
An officer used his stun gun to take the woman down. After that, she was arrested and charged with assaulting an officer with a weapon.
Paramedics on the scene gave the suspect a look-over before she was taken into custody.
