The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan is the lowest it has been since March 21 as the number of vaccinations given continues to climb.
There are 1,451 active cases as the province records 197 new recoveries. There have been 45,820 cases since the pandemic with there having been 43,842 recoveries.
The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases is 139 or 11.3 new cases per 100,000.
Since the last update, there have been 111 new cases diagnosed. Saskatoon had the largest number of new cases found at 45. Other zones that recorded new cases are north-central (19), Regina (15), northwest (11), central-east (five), central-west (four), southeast (three), far northwest (two), southwest (two), south-central (two) and northeast (one). Two people’s hometowns are being determined.
There are 136 people in hospital with 106 needing inpatient care. They are in Regina (44), Saskatoon (39), northwest (eight), north-central (five), central-east (four), southeast (three), south-central (two) and the southwest (one).
Those needing intensive care are in Saskatoon (13), Regina (12), northwest (two), north-central (two) and central-east (one) zones.
VACCINATIONS
Seventy per cent of those 30 years old or older have received their first dose of vaccine as Saskatchewan has now administered 665,193 doses.
Another 2,339 shots have been given since the last update. Saskatoon gave out the largest number of doses at 1,026 while other zones administering vaccines were Regina (958), central-east (57), north-central (46), southeast (44), south-central (44), southwest (37), central-west (19), northwest (18), northeast (15), far north-central (11), far northeast (six) and far northwest (five).
There were 53 doses were administered to people for whom their hometowns are being determined.
