The 63,180 Pfizer doses being shipped to Saskatchewan are to arrive Wednesday to be distributed to Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert, North Battleford, Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) North, ISC South, ISC North Battleford, Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority Prince Albert and pharmacies.
There have been 4,654 doses of COVID-19 vaccine given in Saskatchewan in the latest reporting period, raising the total number administered to 669,847.
Regina gave the largest number of doses since the last update at 1,519. Other zones administering vaccines are Saskatoon (1,441), south-central (491), central-east (245), southwest (224), southeast (171), northwest (147), north-central (82), central-west (61), far northeast (56), northeast (49), and the far northwest (10).
There were 158 doses administered to people for whom their hometowns are being determined.
NEW CASES
The number of recoveries is again higher than the number of new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan.
There have been 189 recoveries and 151 new cases since the last update, meaning 1,442 cases are considered active. The highest number of active cases is in Saskatoon at 456.
The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases is 141 or 11.5 new cases per 100,000.
The new cases are in Saskatoon (51), Regina (32), northwest (16), south-central (11), northeast (10), north-central (eight), southeast (six), southwest (five), far north-central (two), far northeast (two), central-west (two), central-east (one) and far northwest (one). Two cases are people for whom their hometowns are being determined.
Saskatchewan has now had more than 46,000 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic started, with 29 Saskatchewan people tested out of province being added to the province’s total. There have been 44,031 recoveries.
DEATHS AND HOSPITALIZATIONS
Another person in their 40s has died of COVID-19, this time in Saskatoon.
Hospitals are caring for 133 people with COVID-19. Of those, 106 are receiving inpatient care. They are in Regina (42), Saskatoon (40), northwest (seven), north-central (six), central-east (four), northeast (two), south-central (two), southeast (two) and southwest (one).
The number needing ICU care is down to 27 with patients in Saskatoon (11), Regina (10), north-central (three), northwest (two) and central-east (one).
