There could be some relief for Regina residents sick of hearing obnoxiously loud vehicle noise.
City council voted Wednesday to add a $250 fine to the city’s noise bylaw.
The amended bylaw is to return for council approval on June 9.
The city would also write to the minister responsible for Saskatchewan Government Insurance, advocating for tougher vehicle measures and inspection policies.
After a motion by Coun. Jason Mancinelli, the City of Regina would also be part of provincial efforts on educating people about stunting, racing, vehicle noise and provincial regulations.
The city also has its sights set on speeding and stunt driving, collecting data to find problem streets.
Traffic calming measures could be explored for those areas, says a report to council. Some examples include curb extensions, medians, or on-street parking.
