Never before in Regina have police seized the amount of fentanyl found while executing a search warrant in the east part of the city on Wednesday.
Police found 2.8 kilograms of fentanyl — enough for 28,000 doses — worth $1.1 million on the street when they searched five homes and two vehicles. The homes searched are in the Greens, Glencairn, Windsor Park and Hawkstone neighbourhoods.
Officers also found and seized 450 grams of cocaine, a stolen and loaded handgun, $43,000 in cash as well as other items related to drug trafficking.
The search was done by the Regina Police Service Drug Unit, which was assisted by the Crime Reduction Team as well as uniformed patrol officers.
Three people from out of province have been arrested and they face gun and drug trafficking charges among other offences.
Guleed Abdiaziz Warsame, 31, from Calgary, Yusuf Muse, 29, from Mississauga and 20-year-old Abbas Abdinour of Toronto all made their first court appearances on Thursday.
