The Regina Police Service is looking into reports a man tried to lead a child away from a west-end park Sunday afternoon.
In a media release Monday, police said they responded at about 3:20 p.m., to a report of a suspicious person.
Officers were told a group of children under the age of 12 had been playing at Westhill Park in the 8100 block of Sherwood Drive at around 10:30 or 11 a.m., when one of the children was approached by a man who started talking to the child.
“The male was then alleged to have been seen trying to lead the child away from the park,” the police release said. “Another child present intervened, took the child away, and the male then reportedly walked away. The group of kids returned home to report the encounter to their families.”
The man is described as being about 40 years old, wearing a black coat and big, black sunglasses.
The police said they don’t know what the man’s intentions were, so they’re looking for help from the public to assist their investigation.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
