Jamie Nye: The series no one wanted except for Jets and Habs fans

The playoff series many wanted isn’t the one we’re about to get in the NHL’s North Division.

Instead of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl against Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, the marquee will read Carey Price and Connor Hellebuyck.

Yes, instead of four of the top scorers in the league this season, we’re looking at two of the top goaltenders over the past five years — or, in the case of Price, over the last decade.

Montreal and Winnipeg hopefully bring a quicker style of play than the first two series, where these two sides had to sit back and trap the Oilers and Leafs to death in order to get to this point.

While Montreal will have to watch themselves with the Kyle Connor-Blake Wheeler-Mark Scheifele line, there should be less of a full-on lockdown defensively in this series.

Or maybe it will be goaltender duel for the ages?

I hesitate making a prediction on this series as most of the pundits had an epic fail in the first round but what’s the fun in that?

Winnipeg in six, with Nikolaj Ehlers being the hardest guy to contain for Montreal.
