12:00 – Drowning claims the lives of more than 400 Canadians each year, with two thirds of drowning deaths occurring between May and September. According to the Canadian Lifesaving Society, the most common risk factors are swimming alone, being a weak swimmer or non-swimmer, alcohol consumption, and not wearing a PFD. To discuss drowning risks and how you can keep yourself and your children safe in the water this summer, John is joined by lifeguard and drowning researcher Dr. Frank Pia.
