A 17-year-old boy in Regina is facing charges after police say he got behind the wheel while intoxicated.
On Saturday night, police responded to the intersection of Ritchie Crescent and North Milne Street after receiving a report that a vehicle had struck a parked car.
When police arrived, the driver was nowhere to be seen and his injured passenger was left by herself in the vehicle.
The passenger was unresponsive and was transported to the hospital. She later was released with minor injuries.
Police found and arrested the boy who had allegedly been driving the vehicle.
He can’t be named in accordance with provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He has been charged with operation of a conveyance while impaired by alcohol or a drug or combination causing bodily harm and failing to stop after an accident that results in bodily harm.
He’s to make his first court appearance on July 22.
