Fifteen jurisdictions in Saskatchewan are currently under an Extreme Heat Warning.
The warning was issued around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, affecting nearly every jurisdiction on the Alberta border, along with some areas in central Saskatchewan.
In the warning are cities such as Lloydminster, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Swift Current, the Battlefords, Melfort, Martensville and Warman.
Environment Canada is warning that an upper ridge of high pressure is building from the west coast, bringing a hot air mass with high temperatures.
It will be within the low to mid 30 C level, along with nighttime lows near the 20 C mark.
The temperatures are around 10 C above seasonal values and may break records.
On Wednesday, we’ll get a break, down to seasonal values around 23 C in the daytime and 11 C overnight.
Environment Canada said to watch for effects of heat illness such as swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
