I really don’t want the Montreal Canadiens’ playoff Cinderella story to end.
As much as they’re proving me and every other expert wrong by continuing to surprise, it’s thoroughly enjoyable to watch the underdog keep the good times rolling.
And now that the Canadiens have got a split in the first two games in Vegas, we know they’re right in this thing. They got off to a great start in both games and if it weren’t for Marc-Andre Fleury with some big stops early in Game 1, we could very well be seeing the Canadiens up 2-0 and going home.
They have the recipe that has them winning eight of their last nine games. Score first, play sound defence and have goaltender Carey Price hold the fort.
It’s not the most entertaining way to win, but they don’t ask how, they only ask how many — and the Canadiens, like the other three teams left in the playoffs, are seven wins away from a Stanley Cup.
So let’s keep betting against Montreal, because that seems to be a guaranteed way to keep watching the Habs pull off these upsets.
