The National Hockey League Players Association shared the results of their players poll and there were a few things that stood out. First of all, it appears the players weren’t as fond of the North Division as Canadians may have been as two-thirds of players want the divisions to return to normal next season.
Also two-thirds of players liked the mini-three game series against the same team to reduce travel so it’ll be interesting to see if the schedule makers oblige with more of a baseball schedule next season.
But the one result I was most surprised is the question of ‘Who do you want in a must win game?’
And it was Connor McDavid who earned the top vote.
McDavid is coming off a massive first round exit with only one goal to show for it and wouldn’t exactly be my pick. How about goaltenders Carey Price or Andrei Vasilevskiy?
While it’s a massive sign of respect for McDavid from his peers, McDavid has been proof for years success in hockey isn’t about the size of the biggest star but always about the sum of all your parts.
