The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced the signing of global punter Ben Scruton Friday.
Scruton arrives in Regina after spending four collegiate seasons at the University of Hawaii from 2016 to 2019.
Spending his career as a special teams player, Scruton eventually transitioned from defensive back and kick coverage to punter in his junior season before taking over as the team’s full-time punter in his senior year.

The Melbourne, Australian native played in 11 games for the Rainbow Warriors making 20 punts for 884 yards and a 44.1-yard average including five punts of 50 yards or more. He also landed seven punts inside the 20-yard line and recorded a season-long 65 yarder.
The Riders also released running back David Savard and kicker Wihan van der Riet.
