8:30 – Saskatoon’s John A. Macdonald Rd. has come under criticism recently from Saskatoon Tribal Council and others, who want to see the road renamed to Reconciliation Rd. Ward 3 City Councilor David Kirton asked city’s governance and priorities committee on Monday – which was National Indigenous Peoples Day – to begin the process for the name change. Kirton’s motion was unanimously approved, which means the renaming will come before City Council for a final vote next week. Kirton joins Gormley to tell us why he’d like to see the road renamed.
