8:30 – The Cowessess First Nation and FSIN are set to share details this morning after announcing the discovery of hundreds of unmarked graves at the site of the former Marieval Indian Residential School in Saskatchewan. According to FSIN, “the number of unmarked graves will be the most significantly substantial to date in Canada,” indicating there are more grave sites than the 215 discovered in Kamloops. Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond, who heads UBC’s Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre, predicted the Kamloops discovery was just “the tip of the iceberg” and called for a formal, legal and human rights framework to investigate similar sites. Turpel-Lafond joins Gormley to share her thoughts on the announcement of the “horrific and shocking” discovery in Saskatchewan.

11:00 – Dr. Francis Christian, a University of Saskatchewan surgery professor, has been temporarily suspended from his academic post and had his contract with SHA terminated after vocally criticizing the COVID-19 vaccines and encouraging children not to be vaccinated at a Saskatoon high school. Gormley is a big fan of free speech, but says Dr. Christian crossed a line during his event at Walter Murray Collegiate which justifies his suspension. Did the University of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Health Authority make the right choice, or was their decision a blow against freedom of speech? Call 1-877-332-8255 and let us know what you think!
12:00 – Sheryl Harrow-Yurach, Executive Director of READ Saskatoon, joins Gormley to tell us about their summer literacy campaign and the importance of literacy.
