Buffalo Pound Provincial Park is turning an old ski chalet into a new visitor centre.
This summer, Regina-based Westridge Construction Ltd., is to begin converting the chalet — which originally was built in 1972 — into a multi-purpose visitor centre.
The project, which is to cost more than $1.1 million, is expected to be done by the summer of 2022.
The visitor centre is to house interpretive programs, a coffee shop and kiosks for future park businesses.
Westridge is to demolish some of the chalet and refurbish the interior and exterior of both levels of the building. A large deck complete with an accessible ramp is to be built on the outside of the chalet, and related site developments will be done.
Among the amenities at the park are a new swimming pool, an inflatable waterpark, hiking and biking trails, and mini golf and axe throwing.
