Reggie Bush wants his Heisman Trophy back and his record reinstated now that rules are changing and players in the NCAA can actually profit from their image and likeness.
Bush was ripped from the record books and had to send his Heisman Trophy back and USC had to remove everything showing or referencing Bush at the university.
Why? An aspiring agent was trying to land Bush as a future huge NFL client and gave gifts and money and — you won’t believe this was against the rules — he provided Bush with a limousine to the Heisman Trophy ceremony.
Bush wasn’t bribed by USC and there weren’t any recruiting violations. Nope. He got paid by an agent who was hoping to get the commission on his NFL deals.
Bush was one of the most electric and exciting NCAA players ever and you wonder how much money the NCAA profited by selling Bush jerseys and viewers watching those games etc.
But, how dare he get a few grand and a limo ride?
Yes, Reggie, you do deserve to get the 2005 Heisman Trophy back. Unfortunately, asking NCAA officials to do the right thing rarely means they’ll do it.
