The number of active COVID-19 cases being reported in Saskatchewan continued to fall Monday.
The Ministry of Health said there were 360 active cases in the province, the fewest since there were 342 reported on Oct. 18.
The active caseload in the province’s two largest cities keeps dropping as well. There were 73 active cases reported in Regina and 67 in Saskatoon.
The ministry said Monday there were 20 new cases and 56 recoveries. There weren’t any deaths reported for a sixth straight day.
There also were 8,814 doses of COVID vaccine administered, with 7,871 of those second doses. To date, 494,071 people — or 48 per cent of Saskatchewan residents aged 12 and up — have received both doses and are considered fully vaccinated.
A look at the numbers
The new cases were in the Regina (nine), far northeast (three), northeast (three), far northwest (one), north-central (one) and Saskatoon (one) regions. The hometowns of two cases are still being determined.
The government announced 49 new cases on Saturday and 27 on Sunday. There also were 85 recoveries reported over the weekend.
Since the start of the pandemic, Saskatchewan has reported 48,978 cases and 48,050 recoveries.
To date, 12,208 cases of COVID variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan.
The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases stands at 33, or 2.7 per 100,000 people.
There are 65 COVID patients in Saskatchewan hospitals, with 11 of those in intensive care. Those cases are located in the Regina (four), Saskatoon (four), north-central (two) and northwest (one) zones.
There were 912 COVID tests processed in Saskatchewan on Sunday, increasing the province’s total to date to 923,683.
Vaccination update
So far, 1,225,186 doses of COVID vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan.
The latest shots were given in the Saskatoon (3,193), Regina (3,107), south-central (615), northwest (466), north-central (370), southeast (304), central-east (219), northeast (77), southwest (73), central-west (64), far northeast (52), far northwest (16) and far north-central (one) zones.
The hometowns of 257 recipients are pending.
