As Saskatchewan prepares to open up, 980 CJME spoke to several businesses in Regina to see if they will go with the flow of following provincial mandates or continue calling for the use of masks and social distancing.
Here’s what we learned.
Regina Airport:
Some spaces in the Regina airport are federally regulated and others are not. Public areas will be provincially mandated.
Masks are mandatory:
- Pre-boarding screening
- In line to board the aircraft
- On the aircraft
Masks are not mandatory:
- Entering and exiting terminals
- In seating areas
- At check-ins
Southland Mall:
- Southland Mall is following the mandate of the provincial government, meaning masks will no longer be required in the mall. However, some retailers in the mall will continue with masks and social distancing
- Signage that no longer applies will be taken down
- Food courts will change in relation to spacing and use of tables, barricades and Plexiglas as the restrictions are removed
- Additional cleaning measures will continue
Saskatchewan Science Centre:
- Masks will continue to be mandatory for both the science centre and the IMAX Theatre
- There will be admission capacities. More slots will added as the weeks pass
- Sanitization and traffic controls will still be in place
- These rules are still in place as majority of the visitors are 12 and under
Mackenzie Art Gallery:
- Masks will still be mandatory at the Mackenzie Art Gallery. If you are not wearing a mask you will be asked to do so.
- The gallery still encourages physical distancing
- Capacity will be 150 people per hour
- The restaurant area remains closed
RCMP Museum:
- Masks will no longer be mandated, but are recommended
- Barriers will be taken down
- Masks and hand sanitizer will still be available
Royal Saskatchewan Museum:
- Masks will no longer be mandated, but are welcomed
- Social distancing is recommended but not enforced
- Hand sanitizer will still be available
- ‘High touch’ areas will continue to be cleaned
Landmark Cinemas in Regina:
- Masks are recommended but not mandatory
- Staff will continue wearing masks
- Sanitization and cleaning will still be in place
- Shows before 6 p.m., Monday to Thursday will require physical distancing
- Shows after 6 p.m., Monday to Thursday and Friday to Sunday will be ‘full theatres’ with no regulations in place
Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw:
- Mandatory masking will no longer be in effect. However, guests and employees who prefer to wear a mask are still welcome to do so
- Capacity limits will be lifted, and gaming services will be expanded to include live felt play on table games
- Service of alcohol will be expanded to 2 a.m. with bar and gaming floor beverage services also resuming operation
- The Union Station Restaurant and Bar at Casino Regina will reopen at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. However, the Casino Regina Show Lounge will remain closed until Nov. 1
- Hand sanitizer stations will be positioned throughout the gaming floors. Increased cleaning and sanitization with an emphasis on high-touch surfaces will continue for the foreseeable future
- Until further notice, Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw are no longer open 24 hours on weekends. The change will give ample time to do a full cleaning of the casino properties with an electrostatic sprayer prior to opening for business each day
Regina Public Library:
- Masks will no longer be mandated
- There won’t be any capacity limits
- Furniture that was previously taken out will be reintroduced
- Returned material will no longer be quarantined
- More in-person activities will be held
- Plexiglas will still be in place at service points
- Hand sanitizer and masks are available
- Curbside pickup and online programming will continue
- Traffic controls and signage will be removed
Lot Club:
- Masks and social distancing are not mandatory
- Dance floor will be back on
Dazzle Karaoke:
- Masks will no longer be required
- The facility will still practise social distancing
- Sanitizer will be provided
- Equipment will still be cleaned and sanitized
Evolution Fitness:
- Masks are no longer mandatory, but are welcomed
- Social distancing is no longer in place
- Signage will be taken down
- Full capacity is alowed
- Equipment that was moved out due to the pandemic will be put back on the floor
- The sauna will reopen later in the summer
- Cleaning procedures are still in place
