Twenty new cases of COVID-19 and two new deaths were announced in Saskatchewan on Friday.
The new deaths are the first reported in the province since one was announced Sunday. To date, 575 Saskatchewan residents have died due to the virus.
Almost 11,000 new COVID-19 vaccines were given in the latest reporting period.
A look at the numbers
Saskatchewan has now had a total of 49,362 cases of COVID-19 and 48,407 recoveries.
There are 380 cases that are considered active in the province.
New vases of the virus came from the Regina (four), Saskatoon (three), central-east (three), far northwest (three), north-central (two), northwest (two), far northeast (one) and southeast (one) zones. One case is pending residence information.
One out-of-province case has been added to Saskatoon’s numbers. Three cases with pending residences have been assigned to the far north-central (two) and northwest (one) areas.
The seven-day average of new cases is 25.
Deaths reported today were from the 60-to-69 age group from the northwest zone and the 70-to-79 age group from the far northeast region.
There are 53 people with COVID-19 in Saskatchewan hospitals, with 44 receiving inpatient care in the Saskatoon (18), Regina (17), northwest (three), north-central (two), southeast (two), far northeast (one) and central-east (one) areas.
Nine patients are in ICUs in Saskatchewan, with five in Saskatoon, three in Regina, and one in the north-central region.
COVID-19 tests processes in the province yesterday numbered 1,573. To date, 941,407 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan.
No new lineage results for variants of concern (VOC) were announced Friday. A total of 377 Delta VOCs have been reported in Saskatchewan.
Vaccine update
A total of 1,332,135 vaccines have been given to date in Saskatchewan.
The latest 10,925 new doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered in the Saskatoon (4,462), Regina (2,556), northwest (733), central-east (619), southeast (613), north-central (460), northeast (242), central-west (216), southwest (216), south-central (196), far northeast (154), far northwest (117) and far north-central (five) regions.
Doses administered with zone of residence pending numbered 336.
Of Saskatchewan residents aged 12 and over, 73 per cent have received their first vaccine and 58 per cent — or 585,962 people — are fully vaccinated.
