Battleford RCMP officers are recovering from a busy six-day stretch during which the detachment received more than 500 calls for service.
The 524 calls included 18 assault investigations, 10 missing persons reported, eight break and enter investigations and six vehicle thefts. The calls occurred between July 14 and 20, 2021.
On the afternoon of July 17, a woman found her previously reported stolen vehicle on a grid road on the east edge of North Battleford. She was assaulted while trying to retrieve her keys and reported being stabbed by an unknown weapon by the individual who was in possession of her stolen car.
The suspect fled with the woman’s car, which was later found by police and the suspect, a 33-year-old woman, has been taken into custody. She has been charged with assault with a weapon and is in violation of a conditional sentence order.
The suspect has been remanded into custody and appeared in North Battleford court on Monday, July 19. The victim received a minor leg injury during the assault.
RCMP also dealt with 18 mental health act investigations, 10 traffic collisions, four charges related to impaired driving and one investigation into a public health order violation.
A 27-year-old man was also arrested after a report on the morning of July 14 of a man walking down a grid road with a machete in the Cochin District. The suspect allegedly entered the yard and stabbed at the door of a home.
The man was arrested and appeared in North Battleford court on July 15. He faces charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, mischief to property and failure to comply with an undertaking.
RCMP says one missing person investigation is still active.
A television, a generator, some appliances, a dark green 2011 Polaris side by side and a 2011 Precision Trailer were among the items reported stolen during break and enter incidents over the six-day period. One suspect was arrested in connection with one of these incidents.
