Two youths are facing charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle early Wednesday morning.
Regina police say officers observed what they believed was a stole vehicle driving erratically and speeding in North Regina around 2:50 a.m. on July 22.
The vehicle lost control and crashed into a fence on Inland Drive. Three people ran from the vehicle after the crash but were located after a search by police.
Three male youths were taken into police custody.
The vehicle was confirmed stolen and while searching it, police found a firearm and ammunition. After some investigation, one of the youths was released and the other two, 16 and 17 years old, were charged.
Both youths are facing charges for five different offences, including two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a weapon, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failure to comply with conditions of a release order.
Both youths made their first appearances in Youth Provincial Court at 2 p.m. Thursday.
