Fire closes Highway 1 lanes between Ernfold and Chaplin

A fire is causing traffic delays on Highway 1.

In a news release at about 4:45 p.m. Friday, Mounties said that the eastbound lanes were closed between Ernfold and Chaplin.

“Detours are being set up, however, motorists should expect delays if passing through. Due to the highway splitting near the fire, west bound traffic is not affected,” the release read.

This will likely affect drivers heading from Swift Current to Moose Jaw or Regina.

There’s no word yet on any damage or the cause of the blaze.
