The province reported 38 new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan Tuesday.
The new cases are located in the following zones: far northwest (17), far north-central (one), far northeast (four), northwest (one), north-central (three), central-east (two), Regina (nine), southeast (one).
Three cases previously without a hometown were assigned to the far north-central (one); and Regina, (two) zones.
No new deaths were reported Tuesday. One death previously reported in the north-central zone in the 60 to 69 age group is no longer considered a COVID-19 death, according to the provincial COVID-19 update. This brings the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 578.
There is a total of 49,765 cases with 48,825 and cases recoveries and 362 cases considered active.
There are 50 people in hospital — 40 are receiving inpatient care in the far northwest (one) northwest (four) north-central (four) Saskatoon (14), Regina (14), south-central (two), and southeast (one).
Ten people are in intensive care in the north-central (one) Saskatoon (seven) and Regina (three).
The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 41, or 3.4 new cases per 100,000.
Vaccination update
An additional 1,933 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,390,263.
Vaccines were given in the far northwest (15), far north-central (one), far northeast (10), northwest (199), north-central (125), northeast (20), Saskatoon (822), central-west (23), central-east (48), Regina (478), southwest (16), south-central (28) and southeast (36) zones.
There were 112 doses administered without a known hometown.
Seventy-four per cent of those 12 and older have received their first dose and 62 per cent of those 12 and older are fully vaccinated, according to the provincial daily update.
As of Aug. 8, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is shifting their vaccination focus from mass vaccination to an outreach model, targeting those in the province who are under or unvaccinated.
