A woman has been charged in connection with a suspicious death last year.
Richard Netmaker, 36, of Big River First Nation, was reportedly abducted from his home on Jan. 6, 2020, and assaulted. Police searched for the man and an investigation determined Netmaker had been last seen in an isolated area northwest of his community.
Netmaker was found dead in a rural area near Pekakumew Lake four days later.
On July 26, 2021, Saskatchewan RCMP arrested and charged a woman from Big River First Nation with one count of criminal negligence causing death and two counts of forcible confinement.
The woman has appeared in court in Prince Albert and her next appearance is scheduled for Aug. 5, 2021.
The Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit – South is still investigating the circumstances of Netmaker’s death. Anyone with information is asked to call Big River RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
