A Battleford man has been charged with voyeurism after police discovered a photo in the course of another investigation.
North Battleford RCMP said they received a complaint that a woman and a female child were “shown unsolicited and inappropriate material on a mobile device” on July 7, 2020.
As a result, a man from Battleford was charged with one count of committing an indecent act and making sexually explicit material available to a child. These charges are currently before the courts, RCMP said.
While searching a device in relation to this incident, officers found an image of an adult female. The image appeared to have been taken without the woman’s knowledge or consent.
Battleford’s General Investigation Section started to look into the photo, determining it had been taking at a private residence. They executed a search warrant at the home and gathered evidence to support a voyeurism charge against the Battleford man.
The woman pictured in the image was not part of the man’s family or the household where the photo was taken. The woman has been made aware of the photo and police say no further details will be released in order to protect her privacy.
The man was arrested on July 20, 2021 and charged with one count of voyeurism. He will appear in court in North Battleford on Aug. 24, 2021.
