Saskatchewan has posted 85 new cases of COVID-19 in the province and one new death.
Friday marks the highest number of new cases of the virus in a single day since 115 cases were reported on July 8, 2021. Active cases in the province now number 549, the highest they’ve been since June 27 when the same number was reported.
A total of 3,707 new doses of the vaccine have been administered.
The death occurred in the far northwest region and was from the 60 to 79 age group.
A look at the numbers
Saskatchewan has now recorded 50,338 cases of COVID-19.
New cases reported today were located in Saskatoon (19), southeast (12), southwest (10), north central (nine), northwest (eight), far northwest (six), south central (six), central west (four), central east (three), far northeast (three), far north central (two), northeast (one) and Regina (one).
Fifty-seven people in the province are hospitalized due to COVID-19, including 45 inpatient: Saskatoon (22), north central (10), Regina (nine), far northwest (one), northwest (one), south central (one) and southeast (one). In intensive care, there are 12 patients in Regina (five), Saskatoon (four) and north central (three).
There were 40 new recoveries from COVID-19 reported Friday, bringing the total to 49,207.
Almost 2,000 new COVID-19 tests were completed yesterday. A total of 970,495 tests have been completed in the province.
Vaccination update
Total doses of the vaccine that have been administered number 1,426,527. There are 661,545 people who have been fully vaccinated.
Of Saskatchewan residents at or over the age of 12, about 74 per cent have received their first vaccination and 64.035 per cent are fully vaccinated.
