A Calgary company has been fined $500,000 in connection with a worker’s death in Saskatoon in July of 2016.
On July 21, 2016, a worker was fatally injured when a steel structure collapsed at a Saskatoon work site.
On April 14 of this year, Banff Constructors Ltd. was found guilty on two counts under The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
The company was found guilty of failing to make arrangements for the use, handling and transport of trolleys in a manner that protects the health and safety of workers, resulting in the death of a worker, and failing to provide information, instruction, training and supervision that is necessary to protect the health and safety of workers, resulting in the death of a worker.
On Friday, the company was fined $178,571 plus a surcharge of $71,429 on each count in Saskatoon Provincial Court.
