The RCMP and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service are investigating the death of an inmate at the Regina Correctional Centre.
The 32-year-old man was found unresponsive in his cell Thursday. Staff at the jail called paramedics and started life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at about 2:10 p.m.
The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety also will be conducting an internal investigation.
The ministry didn’t provide any other details about the man’s death, but did say it wasn’t related to COVID-19.
