The Saskatchewan Roughriders came into the 2021 CFL season with five major questions.
So far, they’ve answered them with positive results.
Would offensive co-ordinator Jason Maas and quarterback Cody Fajardo gel? An average of 30-plus points a game answers that.
Would Cody Fajardo have a sophomore slump as a starter? Aside from not connecting on deep throws, Fajardo looks like he’s as comfortable as ever.
Can the offensive line withstand all the departures and injuries? That group has far exceeded expectations, albeit fairly low expectations.
Would they be able to replace all three star linebackers? Deon Lacey, Micah Teitz and A.J. Hendy may not have all-star seasons but they certainly have had a solid start.
And what about the pass rush without Charleston Hughes? Eight sacks in the first two games indicates they’re doing just fine without the cagey veteran.
However, I’ll acknowledge they’re only one-seventh of the way through this test, which will only get harder as they get deeper into the season.
