8:30 – A group of physicians and medical experts writing in the National Post are making the argument that counting COVID-19 cases is no longer an effective way to gauge the pandemic, and due to our high vaccine rates we should be monitoring hospitalizations and deaths. Dr. Shawn Whatley, one of the piece’s co-authors, says we should now be focusing on vaccinations rather than testing, and doing away with lockdowns and highly-restrictive measures that were aimed at getting our COVID-19 case count to zero. Dr. Whatley joins Gormley to discuss what living with COVID will look like, and where health officials should be focused to avoid and minimize the serious health impacts of a virus that may be with us forever.

10:00 – Do you trust the media to give you fair and balanced election coverage? A 2021 report found 49% of Canadians believe journalists and reporters are purposely trying to mislead the public, while 52% said most news organizations are more concerned with supporting an ideology than informing the public, and 52% said the media is not doing a good job being objective. Canada’s CRTC has issued guidelines for media to avoid bias, and the appearance of bias, in election coverage, but according to Blacklock’s Reporter, things don’t always play out that way. Tom Korski with Blacklock’s Reporter joins Gormley for a discussion on media bias in Canada, and what to watch for during the election to avoid being misled. Where do you get your election news and information? Call or text 1-877-332-8255 and let us know which media you trust.

11:00 – New polling released this week shows that COVID-19 might not be the top issue across Canada, with many Canadians listing economic and climate concerns as their top ballot-box issues during this federal election. While there seems to be a national trend putting the economy, climate, and healthcare near the top of the list of issues, things always vary regionally across the country, so we’re opening up our phone lines to find out YOUR top issue in this federal election. Call 1-877-332-8255 and tell us which issue will make or break your support for a federal party.
12:00 – A retired Canadian soldier and her Afghan interpreter are advocating for more help for the young interpreter’s family and the many others who assisted with Canada’s mission in Afghanistan. Charlotte Greenall, a retired Chief Warrant Officer, worked with Maryam Sahar during her time serving in Kandahar. Sahar left Afghanistan in 2011 and became a Canadian citizen, but her family was left behind and her younger brother was kidnapped and tortured by the Taliban. With the country now descending into chaos as the Taliban resurge, Greenall and Sahar join Gormley to share their story and tell us what they’d like to see Ottawa doing to help our Afghan allies still trapped in the war-torn country.
