The Saskatchewan government reported 244 new cases of COVID-19 in the province Friday.
It’s the largest single-day increase of cases Saskatchewan has seen since 271 cases on May 8, 2021.
Of the newly reported cases, 50 (20 per cent) were fully vaccinated, 75 per cent were not vaccinated and 5 per cent were partially vaccinated.
The active case count is now up to 1,381 in the province. New doses of the vaccine administered numbered 1,543.
A look at the numbers
A total of 52,065 cases and 50,098 recoveries have now been recorded in the province.
Newly reported cases are in Saskatoon (52), Regina (35), northeast (34), north central (24), far northeast (19), south central (16), southeast (13), northwest (11), central east (nine), far northwest (nine), central west (six), southwest (three) and far north central (one).
Residence for new 12 cases is listed as pending.
There are 84 hospitalizations in Saskatchewan, with 69 inpatients: Saskatoon (27), north central (21), Regina (10), northwest (four), south central (four), northeast (two) and southwest (one).
In intensive care units, there are 15 patients: Saskatoon (nine), Regina (three), north central (two) and northwest (one).
As of Aug. 20, 61 of those in hospital (73 per cent) are not fully vaccinated.
No new deaths were recorded, keeping the total fatalities due to the virus in the province to 586.
The seven-day average of daily new cases is 146.
New tests in the province numbered 2,320 and 995,362 cases have been completed to date.
Vaccination update
A total of 1,454,742 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been given in Saskatchewan and 681,388 residents are fully vaccinated.
Of Saskatchewan residents aged 12 and up, 65.95 per cent have been fully vaccinated and 74.85 per cent have their first shot.
