Gormley, Monday, August 23, 2021
8:30 – On Friday the province released their updated living with COVID guidance. Included was guidance for the new school year. It included a recommendation that students under 12, as well as unvaccinated teachers and staff, wear a mask when in common areas such as hallways, libraries, lunchrooms and school buses, but it was not necessary for students to wear masks in the classroom. Education Minister Dustin Duncan, said earlier this month he was hoping for a more typical school year than it has been over the last year and a half. The Education Minister joins Gormley to share his thoughts on the guidance released by the province and if Saskatchewan school divisions will be adopting the measures.

10:45 – There are more than 4,000 charities active around Saskatchewan, and we’re embarking on a new project to feature some of the great people doing great work in this province during a brand-new segment we like to call “The Best of Saskatchewan.” In this week’s feature, we’ll catch up with Brynn Boback-Lane, President and CEO of the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation.

11:00 – If you know someone with kids, chances are pretty good that they’re a huge fan of PAW Patrol. The Canadian animated series debuted in August of 2013, and immediately captured the hearts and minds of children in Canada and around the world (as well as capturing the wallets of their parents). In 2018 it was estimated that the series was responsible for $7B in merchandise sales, the series has been sold to TV networks in more than 160 countries, and the premiere of ‘PAW Patrol: The Movie’ on Friday, Aug. 20 means this juggernaut isn’t slowing down. TV critic Amber Dowling – a parent to young children herself – says she’s probably seen every episode of the show, and she joins Gormley to discuss why this Canadian cartoon has become a global sensation for kids.
