A 41 year-old man is facing charges after two incidents near downtown on Monday.
At around 3:11 p.m., police were dispatched to the 2000 block of Osler Street near the Regina General Hospital after getting report of a weapons offence involving a knife.
Officers learned that about ten minutes earlier a man had approached the 63 year-old victim and supposedly lunged toward him with a knife.
The victim was able to step aside in time to avoid being hurt, before he could enter a nearby building to call police.
He saw the suspect proceed to start walking south on Osler Street towards Victoria Avenue. As officers got a description of the suspect, an unrelated call for service was sent out, describing a confrontation at City Hall.
In that incident, at 3:16 p.m., a man had entered City Hall seemingly very agitated according to staff.
The suspect was asked to leave, but refused.
Police say the man then allegedly assaulted an employee before fleeing the area.
Police began a search of the area before the suspect was found in the 1800 block of Halifax Street and arrested without incident.
Neither of the victims in these incidents required medical attention.
The man is facing charges of assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to public peace and carrying concealed weapon.
