The death toll in Saskatchewan due to COVID-19 went over the 600 mark on Monday.
The Saskatchewan government announced three COVID-related deaths, increasing the total in the province since March of 2020 to 601.
The government also reported 199 new cases, increasing the province’s total since the pandemic started to 54,076.
The new cases are in the Saskatoon (62), northwest (32), north-central (22), northeast (14), far northeast (14), Regina (eight), far northwest (eight), southeast (eight), central-west (four), far north-central (three), central-east (three), southwest (two) and south-central (two) zones. The hometowns of 17 cases are pending.
The seven-day average of new COVID cases is 228, or 19.0 per 100,000 people.
To date, there have been 12,904 cases in the Saskatoon area, 12,450 in the Regina zone, 12,133 in the north region, 6,502 in the far north, 6,323 in the south zone and 3,518 in the central region. So far, the hometowns of 246 cases have yet to be determined.
There are 2,068 active cases, the highest that figure has been since it was 2,082 on May 16. To date, 51,407 recoveries have been recorded.
There are 111 COVID patients in Saskatchewan hospitals, including 27 in intensive care. Of the 111 patients, 80 were not fully vaccinated against the virus.
To date, 1,475,692 doses of COVID vaccine have been administered in the province. So far, 694,445 people have received both doses.
In the latest reporting period, there were 1,173 doses delivered — 451 first shots and 722 second shots.
