In a post that has now received thousands of likes and hundreds of shares on Facebook, a local business owner is putting his foot down when it comes to customers being rude to staff.
Tim Rogers, the owner of the Lancaster Taphouse, says the downtown location which features mostly female staff has dealt with more problems involving customers over the last few months.
“We’ve really noticed since reopening in this last year that sort of aggression, and for whatever reason it’s largely aggression against some of our women staff,” Rogers said on Wednesday’s Greg Morgan Morning Show. “It has been growing and it’s just becoming more and more of a frustration and a problem.
“For this small group of people, the way they talk to people in the service industry, especially the women, is just not the way that you would expect humans to talk to humans whether they have a legitimate concern with their service or not.
“There are ways to do things, and ways to not do things and it’s just been growing and growing with just the subtle demeaning attitudes.”

Since making the post, Rogers says there has been an outpouring of support, with people expressing their desire for people to treat one another with more kindness.
“We hope that this helps not just us but other restaurants and other businesses just to be able to deal with things a little bit better,” he said. “The post was fantastic. The overwhelming support had us blown away.”
