Active COVID cases continue to rise in Saskatchewan.
In its Saturday update, the province reported 478 new cases, 418 recoveries and eight deaths.
There are also 306 people in hospital, with 67 in the ICU.
According to the Ministry of Health:
- As of October 2, there are 480 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 68,290 reported cases.
- The new cases are located in the Far North West (17), Far North East (7), North West (65), North Central (22), North East (15), Saskatoon (107), Central West (7), Central East (27), Regina (72), South West (22), South Central (47) and South East (29) zones and 43 new cases have pending residence information.
- Sixteen (16) cases with pending residence information were reassigned to North West (from September 7 (1), September 17 (1), September 18 (1), September 29 (1), September 30 (1)), North Central (from September 29 (1), September 30 (6)), Saskatoon (from September 28 (1)), and Regina (from September 27 (2), September 30 (1)) zones.
- 68,290 cases are confirmed:
- o 16,501 cases are from the North area (7,092 North West, 6,898 North Central, 2,511 North East)
- o 16,462 cases are from the Saskatoon area
- o 13,799 cases are from the Regina area
- o 8,280 cases are from the Far North area (3,896 Far North West, 534 Far North Central, 3,850 Far North East)
- o 8,185 cases are from the South area (1,802 South West, 2,592 South Central, 3,791 South East)
- o 4,498 cases are from the Central area (1,254 Central West, 3,244 Central East)
- o 565 cases have pending residence information
- 4,824 cases are considered active and 62,758 cases are considered recovered.
- Just under one-third (32.3%) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.
- One in six (17.1%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.
- As of October 2, 2021, a total of 306 individuals are hospitalized; including 239 inpatient hospitalizations, and 67 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 306 patients eligible for vaccination, 227 (74.2%) were not fully vaccinated.
- There are no ICU beds located in the following six (6) regions: Far North West, Far North Central, Far North East, North East, Central West and South East.
- Eight (8) new deaths reported today. 708 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.0.
- 1,141,192 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of September 30, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 961,276 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,143,428 tests performed per million population.
- The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 478 (39.6 new cases per 100,000).
