A 16-year-old has been charged after a weapons incident over the weekend.
Regina police said officers were dispatched to an address in the 700 block of Cameron Street on Fri., Oct. 8 around 4:15 p.m.
Information police received indicated a firearm had been pulled on a man inside a home. Several people were believed to be inside.
A safety perimeter was set up and a Regina police officer was able to contact a man, 28, inside who was later found to be the victim. The victim left the house through a window and police peacefully negotiated the remaining occupants out of the home also.
After a search of the house and a suspect, a large knife, a “substantial quantity” of ammunition and two improvised firearms.
Further investigation led to four charges laid against a 16-year-old youth in connection to the firearm, including assault with a weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, use of an imitation firearm in the commission of an indictable offences and unsafe storage of a firearm.
The youth’s first court appearance on these charges was Tues., Oct. 12 at 9:30 a.m.
