8:30 – When will gas in Saskatchewan top $1.50/L? According to Dan McTeague, President of Canadians for Affordable Energy, it’s going to happen soon, likely before the year is out. McTeague, who runs GasWisdom.ca, joins Gormley to discuss what’s behind the huge spikes in fuel prices being felt in our province and across Canada, and what we can expect in the weeks ahead.

9:00 – Hour of the Big Stories
10:00 – Electric vehicle owners are getting a pretty great deal, but that might be changing in coming years as EVs become a more common sight on our roads and highways. Writing in C2C Journal, Peter Shawn Taylor argues that EV users save on purchasing thanks to big subsidies and save further by not paying fuel taxes, but when EVs start to become more common owners should brace for a big spike in taxes and fees. Saskatchewan put in place a $150 annual tax on EVs to pay for road maintenance (which took effect Oct. 1), but Taylor says that’s likely just the beginning as government revenue will need to keep pace as more drivers make the switch to EVs and fuel tax revenues fall. Taylor joins Gormley to discuss the future of driving – and fees – in Canada.

11:00 – Saskatoon author Renée Kohlman’s second cookbook, ‘Vegetables: A Love Story’ is set for publication this month, and the book has a twist with the addition of the voice of her partner, vegetable farmer Dixon Simpkins. She says Simpkins brought her a bundle of asparagus on their fist date, which was when she knew that her next book would be about both vegetables and love. Kohlman’s new book offers 92 recipes that she hopes makes her readers look at vegetables in a new light, and Kohlman joins Gormley to tell us more about the project. Do you have a recipe that will get veggie haters to eat and enjoy their greens? Call 1-877-332-8255 and join the conversation!
