New cases reported by the province numbered 327 on Wednesday, with 343 new recoveries and 11 deaths posted.
January 28, 2021, was the last time that many deaths were reported in a single day.
Active cases dropped by 27 to 4,423, according to Wednesday’s numbers.
More than 4,000 new doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were also administered.
A look at the numbers
New cases were reported Wednesday in Saskatoon (78), Regina (51), northwest (49), central east (28), far northeast (23), north central (20), northeast (15), southeast (12), far northwest (10), south central (eight), southwest (six) and central west (two).
There are 337 patients with COVID-19 in Saskatchewan hospitals currently, down 11 from Tuesday. Patients receiving in-patient care number 261: Saskatoon (94), Regina (63), northwest (32), north central (24), northeast (10), southwest (10), central east (eight), southeast (seven), south central (six), far northwest (four) and central west (three).
Seventy-six patients are in intensive care, in the Saskatoon (38), Regina (20), central east (six), north central (five), northwest (three), south central (three) and southwest (one) zones.
The province now sits at 764 deaths. Saskatchewan has now recorded 73,057 cases and 67,870 recoveries.
New tests reported on Oct. 13 numbered 2,825, putting the province at 1,180,568 total tests completed.
The seven-day average of daily new cases decreased by 22 on Wednesday to 465.
Vaccination update
A total of 1,608,380 total doses of the vaccine have been given, including 4,305 new doses reported Wednesday. A total of 757,766 residents are now fully vaccinated in the province.
Of those at or over the age of 12 in the province, 85.326 per cent have received at least one dose of the vaccine and 76.013 per cent are fully vaccinated.
New cases in Regina schools
In addition to cases reported Tuesday by Regina Public Schools (RPS), multiple cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in a grade one and two classroom at Dr. George Ferguson School.
In an email, RPS communications supervisor Terry Lazarou said all close contacts have been notified and the classroom has been closed due to the number of positive cases. Remote learning for the classroom will begin on Thurs., Oct. 14 and run through Fri., Oct. 22.
Any future close contacts will be notified directly by public health.
Students will return to school on Mon., Oct. 25 if they do not have symptoms.
