8:30 – The Canada/US land border is set to re-open to fully-vaccinated travelers next month, but there are still a number of unanswered questions and potential issues for border-crossers. Dr. Dr. Laurie Trautman, Director of the Border Policy Research Institute at Western Washington University, says we may see an initial surge of traffic caused by snowbirds, property owners, and those with family across the border, but the testing requirements may still be too strict to see a return to cross-border shopping and casual trips. Trautman says the uncertainty at the border may persist even after a full re-opening, because now that it’s been snapped shut once, it could potentially happen again in future, and she joins Gormley to tell us more

12:00 – A new national survey by the Canadian Hub for Applied and Social Research at the University of Saskatchewan yielded some interesting results, including the fact more than 1/3 of Canadians don’t trust parents to keep their sick kids home from school. Saskatchewan respondents expressed lower support for masks in schools and limits on social gathering sizes than most other regions, and women had stronger support than men for measures such as indoor masking, business capacity limits, and gathering size limits. Jason Disano led the survey, and he joins Gormley to break down the results.
